Bellows Falls Woman's Club - A CENTURY OF ACHIEVEMENTS Organized September 1901 Joined the State Federation of Women’s Clubs in November 1901 Began the local Visiting Nurses Program in 1904 Started a 14 Bed Hospital in Bellows Falls in 1912 Joined the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in June 1913 Helped create the Dunham Bill to require a waiting period for marriages in VT Sponsored a Junior Woman’s Club from 1940-1953 The General Federation of Women’s Clubs helped to create 75% of Public Libraries in the United States Helped to establish the Senior Citizen Organization in 1960 Created the Amy Searles Scholarship for local students for education in Health Care
